"I know several people that resided at Riverwood and they loved every minute of it. It is like a close-knit family of very caring people and the food is good. They have good outreach programs as well."

"Just a note to say thank you and your staff for all of your efforts to ensure a friendly, happy, safe environment for all of the residents, specifically our mom "*". It was not easy for her to give up her home and much of her independence 6 years ago. She was a very capable, optimistic, independent woman who had many challenges in her life time to deal with and she was a great influence and role model to all members of her family and her many friends. We thank you for caring for her over the last 3 years of her life. She told us she was happy and believe me, we would have known if she wasn't! We always felt welcomed and the staff was always friendly and they speak so nicely to each of the residents. We also noticed the many improvements that have been made during mom's stay - the gardens and the recreation programs to name a few.

Many thanks

"We wanted to take this opportunity to thank each and every staff member at Riverwood for the wonderful attention and care that you gave our beloved family member.

Words cannot convey our deep appreciation for all that you did to ensure that our loved one had a wonderful and comfortable stay while in your care.

The exceptional care and attention she received during her last days from the staff at Riverwood will be forever remembered in our hearts. You have our deepest gratitude for your kindness.

Although our hearts are saddened with her passing, we take solace in the fact that she was lovingly tended to and watched over by the staff at Riverwood.

With deepest appreciation and gratitude, we thank you all.

"I would like to express my sincere thank you for the care and compassion that was given to my wife "*" during her recent illness.

The attending staff were very attentive and comforting. The Head Nurses were informative in giving me the condition and progress of her each time that I inquired. Your staff has to be the best of the best and should be congratulated and be aware of how much I appreciate their services. Many thanks

"I still remember the first day when we moved Mom into her new home at Riverwood - our feelings of guilt, the sadness for Mom who apparently was about to lose her independence, something she valued almost more than anything else in her life. She looked so nervous. Mom had agreed to "try" Riverwood - just for the winter. At the end of March 2*** we moved her back to her home in Rexdale as we had promised. One week later, she told me, "I think I've made a mistake." We moved her back to Riverwood one week after that for good this time.

I cannot find words to describe our appreciation to all the staff for making Mom's last 5 years enjoyable. To the girls that endlessly clean and do the laundry - Thank you! To the kitchen staff that tried every day to make sure Mom ate properly - Thank you! To the Nursing staff that kept Mom upright (so to speak) - Thank you! To the Activity directors for trying to get mom involved in different programmes - Thank you!

Finally, to the many care givers, especially since April, who bathed Mom, dressed her, changed her, fed her and made her feel loved - Thank you!

You are the backbone of Riverwood. We can never thank you enough for your care and compassion. One of the things Mom liked best about Riverwood was the fact that you all called her by her first name. For 40 years she pleaded with her neighbour's to call her by her name but she was always "Mrs. *". At Riverwood she became her own person. She told me one day that she had more friends than she'd ever known before.

Sincerely,

Ruth, Marg & Nora "
